July 2024 - Present Career Break / Professional Development

After being involved in a large-scale company downsizing event, a focus on honing technical skills has become a priority. Completed PHP training - built and maintain several small PHP applications by putting that training to work. Continue to develop web development skills through involvement in a Boot Camp and keeping python skills up to date through a course on Alison LMS. Became involved with VolunteerNH and working with an organization to be a web master using Joomla. Recently added a new Atlassian certification for Jira Agile.

Focus on ClearCase and ClearCase Multisite administration with a focus on build and release automation
Key Accomplishments
  • Automated the build process – reduced the need to continually monitor building software allowing release personnel to focus attention on other things
  • Implemented entirely new build processes required for the release team to complete software builds requested from a remote site.
  • Brought new sites on-line to allow for parallel development between remote sites and the central site through the use of Rational’s MiteSite
  • Received recognition for assisting in the replacing of the power systems used for engineering computing systems

1997 - 2001 Shiva Corporation / Intel Network Systems - Bedford, MA

Senior Release Engineer

Focus on ClearCase and ClearCase Multisite administration with a focus on build and release automation
  • Commissioned and Decommissioned remote sites from ClearCase MultiSite development
  • Converted Source control from Visual Source Safe to ClearCase
  • Implemented CD mastering station reducing the time to create CD-ROMs for QA to verify and Manufacturing to ship
  • Wrote a tool to build Visual Basic projects from the command line virtually eliminating the need to build projects interactively
  • Redesigned and implemented an installation to remove manual steps that the user had to complete considerably improving customer satisfaction

Focus automating the release processes and pre QA validation
  • Wrote java code to test java add-in for the Jamba product (Java applet authoring tool). This became part of the example code that was delivered to customers
  • Defined the release process from development to QA and / or manufacturing

  • Wrote installation patches for Jamba product in Wise (Wise installation system)
  • Maintained InstallShield installations for other Aimtech products.

Responsible for developing targeted marketing campaigns with sales agents by interfacing the customer database with advertiser demographic groups using GIS systems. Maintain the VAX and PDP systems and the inhouse software for all business systems.

  • Redesigned and coded the newsprint inventory system
  • Performed sustaining programming on the company’s payroll system
  • Instituted a marketing program to target customers based on geographic and demographic information – wrote a Visual Basic program to review various census block group demographic information with subscriber concentration.
  • Lead a target-marketing program to increase the subscriber base – this targeted marketing program doubled the number of respondents to marketing campaign.
  • Designed and wrote a system in Visual Basic that would cycle the photos received so as not have the disk space on the servers quickly consumed
  • Designed and implemented a system in Visual Basic that allowed reporters to dial into the company and deliver stories reliably – this system reduced the number of remote access problems considerably.
